A very cool shot. How curious some anymals are... >;O) Really well done, nice DOF. Though it could have a little more contrast, but after watching it a while it was perfect to me.

Brilliant. How close were you to these beasties and how calm (or otherwise) were they about your presence?
Recently I had the opportunity to observe a rather more territorial exemplar of the species, but seeing how he went after the geese I kept a respectful distance!

Thanks for the comments. Baobab: Shots were taken with a 24mm held about 12 inches from their heads. These swans are well used to people feeding them down at the estuary, parents bring kids there after school as a treat. There's maybe a dozen or so of them along with ducks and pigeons and assorted other winged beasts. They do bite at your hand when you've run out of food, but it's more like they're just checking rather than anything vicious...and certainly doesn't hurt at all. My 3 year old loves feeding them, like me he walks in amongst them, though I do keep a close eye on him when he's there with me. That said, while they're placid enough, like any animal, they can be unpredictable if someone or something riles them.
