The tones - very subdued - are remarkable in this series. How are you achieving this look?

I spent a week or so playing with Photoshop and various images from the series trying to find a scheme that worked. Sometimes something that worked for one image wouldn't work for another. The final set up involves about 15 layers: colour overlays with various opacities, adjustment layers, as well as duplicate layers of the image set to different layer overlay styles. I really enjoy that end of things, it's like solving a puzzle to what I see in my head.
